My sweet grandson in Just me!

Yesterday we picked Owen up (the 14 year old) and brought him to our house to help with some chores. He helped me pack up Christmas things in a different closet. We moved it for easier access without having to go to the attic. Owen also swept off our deck and cleared some branches and assorted stuff from the backyard and deck.
We gave Owen some money, because each of the eighth graders in his class is tasked with earning a portion of the fee for their trip to Costa Rica in the spring. It felt good to help him and spend some time together. Bill was here, too, but couldn’t participate in the moving due to back issues right now.
When we took Owen home, we surprised him by taking a side trip to Duck Donuts to get some warm, made to order treats. He was delighted with that!

Delightful that you were able to spend time with your grandson. And especially nice that you are contributing towards his Costa Rica trip. Kelly and family have been to Costa Rica and they had a great time! Thank you for writing this entry. It was a pleasure to read.

what a great thing to help him earn his way. not enough people do that anymore...things are made so easy for kids. you are giving him a gift that he may not even realize. and you got to spend time with him to boot. i want to instill such things in my grands as they grow too.
