Today I did some of the yoga exercises while Joe walked Guinness. :o) I tried to have the DVD set up before Joe got home, but OF COURSE I remembered only two steps of the “how to work this damn DVD player,” so he had to do it for me. So far the DVD player is a lot harder than the yoga!! But this evening I’m going to have him show me again, and I am going to write it all down in steps. HA! Before long I will know how to do it!
My goal is to learn a few new stretches/poses at a time so that I can gradually increase my routine, AND be able to do them without having to watch the person on the DVD.
It was good to get back to work today! Would you believe, this was the first day of this school year that we have been fully staffed?? When the year started, we had one person out on short term disability. Then in November, Sheila went out to have knee replacement surgery. She just came back today. I was glad to see her; I really like Sheila. And a week or so ago I told you that we finally got to hire someone to fill the other position, since that worker changed to long term disability. And I said that we’d hired Brad, the young man with Aspberger’s. He has been working on the serving line with me and it’s been GREAT. I tell you, we could use more men in food service, and more YOUNG people, because of all the heavy lifting we do and the stretching we have to do that we wouldn’t have to do so much of if we were a little bit taller! Well, Brad IS taller, so he’s my “reacher”! And my “lifter” when we are serving the kids together. Plus, he had an idea today that helped our serving go faster and easier. I don’t know why we hadn’t ever been doing it this way before, but I guess we had just been waiting for Brad to come up with the idea! :o)
Just like I used to when I was newer to food service work, Brad has been burning himself on a daily basis at work. There are so many ways one can burn oneself when the pans are hot, the lids are hot, the food is hot, the steam is hot....pretty much everything is hot! Today he burned himself on the hot cheese sauce we were putting on the cheesesteak subs. I really am not sure how he managed to do that, because I was the one who was ladling it onto the subs! But stuff happens! I sent him to put something on it, posthaste. We have an aloe ointment that we keep on hand, for putting on burns. He also cut himself today, and had to go to the nurse because Sophia let us run out of bandaids! I will take some in tomorrow. But Sophia ought to; the first aid kit is in her office!
I made some 15 Bean Soup for supper tonight that was sooooooooo good!! It was the Hambeans brand of dry beans, and it had a packet of Cajun seasoning with it. I also added onion, smoked sausage and a little bowl of chicken gravy leftover from the night before. It was quite spicy! Oftentimes I try for “spicy” but can’t manage to get food quite as spicy as I want it.
Welp, supper is over with; my shower is over with; my backrub from Joe is over with, and we have watched Jeopardy. Now Joe’s watching his favorite show, NCIS, and I’m seriously thinking of posting this and going to bed!
I hope you have a good sleep too! :o)
