The first year with a new baby is by far my favorite. They grow so quickly and learn new skills so often it's unbelievable. As much as I like the newborn stage because they are so tiny, sleep a lot and so fresh and new, I much prefer the stage Miles is at now. He is 5.5 months now and enjoys playing with his rattle, o-ball, rings and sometimes chewing on teethers. He also really loves the Jolly jumper when he is in a good mood and will happily stay in there for an hour or so just watching to see what Cody is up to and whoever else is around. Did I mention how much he watches Cody? He stares at him way more than he looks at me which is kinda strange but I am used to it by now. He definitely notices if I leave the room though. I can't even go pee without hearing his wails trail after me so I try to go when he is napping. As for his skills, he still hates tummy time but can lift his head fairly decently and he's nowhere close to being able to sit up yet. He's rolled front to back twice and then never again and he's napping really well these days all on his own but still has me up 3 to 5 times a night. Ugh.
I started a 12 week weight loss challenge with a bunch of ladies on Facebook a while ago and there are only 13 days left! I'm trying to be perfect with my eating and exercising every day until the end because I want to win really badly. There's one winner for who loses the most inches and another for who loses the most weight by percentage. There's about 20 people in the challenge and everyone but me and one other girl is doing horribly. As of 2 weeks ago I had lost 21lbs and 14 inches and she had lost 26lbs and 12 inches so hopefully I can win one of the categories. If I do the prize money is something like $300. That would be so exciting! I am determined to win :) Although I might have a delicious no calorie counting cheat day once the challenge is over lol. Mmm chocolate cake lol.
Speaking of money, I am managing ok with less pay on maternity leave but I am definitely pinching pennies. I have been selling stuff I don't use in the house to earn more money lately and that has totally helped. Luckily I am really good at budgeting money. There's always something that comes up that costs money like cat food, diapers, paying for the repair of my car window and this or that. Occasionally I will have a few extra hundred but the last time that happened I spent it all on Christmas presents. Tax time is coming up soon and I am interested to see how much we get back since we have another kid now. Last year we got $1100 back so it would be cool to get a bit more this time like $1500 which I can put away for when we need it. Mike and I have separate bank accounts and he always likes to buy himself a treat like a new video game or three lol whereas I like to save mine. He spends way more than me on himself which is exactly why we have separate bank accounts lol. I get books from the library and having been wearing the same clothes for years. I'd rather save my money for when the boys need something.
