Husband Shaming! in A New Beginning

So, we are in the midst of what-in-Delaware-passes-for-a-snowstorm here, and Joe just “HAD” to drive almost three hours away to go to a damn book study meeting with his freakin’ coven! Mind you, okay, they are not supposed to get hardly any snow up there. But why should that matter?? WE ARE GETTING IT HERE. And I’m pissed that he thought he just “HAD” to answer some call of duty, other than mine, once-a-fcukin-gain. It’s not like anyone told him that he “had” to go to this. They figure he is mature enough to figure that out for himself, I’m sure! The other members of the group all live up there where it’s not snowing much, so there’s no reason that they should’ve called off their meeting. Mister Arsehole should’ve just called to say he wasn’t going. He hasn’t read the chapters he was supposed to read for today anyway!
Anyhow, now that I got that off my chest....the snow is REALLY COMING DOWN! I, of course, think snow is absolutely beautiful. And I love it, but as I’ve gotten older (and the people I know have too), I have come to better realize the hardships it can create. I am well aware that there are lots of of people who live alone anyway, and don’t EVER have anyone they can count on for much help in a snowstorm! (But getting back to the husband shaming again....if the help you HAVE isn’t even THERE, that’s kinda like having no help! At least right then it is!)
Guinness is gonna pester me to death today, I just know. I am boycotting playing with him at the moment because he makes it too difficult, He won’t just go fetch something and bring it back to you. Oh no, he is very smart and that is way too boring for him. He wants to go get it and then run around and around with it, making you chase him (and get out of breath doing so) to get it back. OOOOOOR, he likes to set it on the floor right next to you but then grab it back when you are within inches of reaching it. This is sometimes fun, but not always! He will be alright, though. I keep letting him go out so he can bark at the various things that go by on our road. He likes that, and I don’t mind his barking. We live in the countryside, so no one is really close enough to be bothered by it.
Yesterday it was not snowy, so after work Joe and I finally got up to the AFB to do a BIG GROCERY SHOPPING. Oh my, we really needed to; we were out of pertneer everything. Joe likes to push the cart when we go shopping. (It gives him something to do, since I’m the actual shopper, in grocery stores at least.) Often when we go up to Dover AFB, Joe runs into fellow retirees he knew from when he was in the service. So they stand and talk, which is great. I just say “Here, give me the cart and you can talk!” Last night he ran into five or six guys he knew! It was like an Alumni Meeting! :o) !!
I am so thankful that at this stage of our lives, we can go grocery shopping and I can just toss things we need into the cart without having to be super-careful that I don’t over-spend! It sure has not always been the case, and I know that for many people, it’s just NOT the case.
I wish there was more to watch on tv on Saturdays! Because nowadays I can enjoy relaxing on the couch for an hour or so. It would be nice to have something decent to watch! Of course all people have their own likes and dislikes. I have no interest in sports, cooking shows, fix-it shows or physical fitness shows. I do really like travel shows though! Rick Steve’s Europe is my favorite! And I like nature shows. I enjoy many old situation comedy reruns, but not westerns or police shows. One of my favorite old shows is Leave it to Beaver! That world of the Cleevers is almost an enigma to me! But I really like the two boys and the situations they get into.
Speaking of the tv, though, I think I will go lie on the couch and see if there’s anything good on, and if there isn’t, I might read for awhile. I can’t sit here all day or I will get sore! And who needs to, anyway? :o)
