The richest experience of this day was to look at the photo album Kermit put together from pictures of his growing up years, collected by his Aunt and parents. He did this when he had stage 4 cancer and we didn’t know if he would live. As I looked from page to page the arc of his life and his past and his ancestors greeted me, I remembered that he had wanted us to have these should he die then or later. He was right…we do need them. I will put that book out for the family to see over the holiday season.

He I think was an ordinary man who had a difficult childhood, a lonely one, and thus valued deeply his wife and this family life we created.
