Half day tomorrow! Wheeee!!
Slow day at work today again. Apparently this is the time of year that happens.
Had a frustrating case where owner didn’t want to do diagnostics. That happens all too often.
One of my coworkers had a case with a very sick pet so owners elected to euthanize, which is fair. However, they didn’t want to be present for it. I hate that. I don’t care if it’ll make you sad and cry in front of us, be there for your pet’s last moments if you have the opportunity! I feel like electing out is selfish. The pet doesn’t know what’s going on, why they’re around strangers. Whenever this happens, we try very hard to tell the pet that they are loved, brave, and will no longer be in pain. I don’t know if it helps them, but it helps us feel better.
On a brighter note, I got lots of face kisses from dogs today. Very sweet dogs :) There’s always that moment when a dog is looking at your face and you’re wondering what they’re planning on doing and then SLURP! I love it :)

Whenever we had someone do a drop-off euthanasia, I'd always volunteer to assist, and once the people left, I'd stay with that baby and rub tummies and scratch ears and say nice things until they collapsed into my arms. No pet should ever have to go without loving hands on them.
