Show custom backgrounds to me, or not. in Site Updates

This is a big one I wanted to add before the option to use prosebox.net goes away. On prosebox.com:

There is a checkbox under settings:

Show customized backgrounds to me

If you check this box, you will see the new personalization, as intended by individual users.

If you uncheck this box, Prosebox will behave a lot like the original version. The background color will always be the same, and you won’t see personalization of others. While less fun, this can be useful:

  • No rapid transition from black to white as you browse the site
  • A bit less conspicuous if you’re trying to browse in a semi-public place and stay under the radar.

As always, let me know if you run into any issues. Also I would encourage anyone having technical issues on prosebox.net to give prosebox.com a try. The old server is a bit short on memory and I don’t feel inclined to bump it up since it’s going away. Thanks!

I'm already lost. I can't seem to sign in. Do I need to create a new account?

simple mind ConnieK ⋅ November 16, 2016

No, your same account should work.

ConnieK simple mind ⋅ November 16, 2016

Okay. I'm in but it's late so I'll try it out tomorrow. I'm never good with machines and change.

perfunctory November 16, 2016

Thank you! I'm enjoying the changes!

simple mind perfunctory ⋅ November 17, 2016

Glad to hear it!

I like seeing the backgrounds. I just wish there was a bigger variety. Better yet, will we soon be able to upload background pics of our own choosing?

What is this .net you speak of? Seriously though the only time I've used .net in the past couple weeks is when I accidentally click on an old link not realizing they aren't re-directed here yet.

ThisIsME November 17, 2016

Gonna have to switch to .com as .net has been lagging and glitchy for me this past week

Silent Echo/Quiet Storm November 17, 2016

gotta tell you, this morning my laptop froze after only writing one paragraph and i hadn't saved it yet. ended up i had to reboot and figured i'd lost that paragraph. but, when i was able to get back to .com, there was my paragraph!!! thank you so much for whatever you've done to make that happen. take care,

simple mind Silent Echo/Quiet Storm ⋅ November 17, 2016

Glad to hear it! Sounds like someone else had the opposite experience - so at least i know it somewhat works. :-)

Small Town Girl November 17, 2016

.Net is going away?? Why?

simple mind Small Town Girl ⋅ November 17, 2016

I'm just moving everything to prosebox.com and redirecting .net there. Nothing is really going away (well, unless you work at a place that blocks prosebox.com).

Small Town Girl simple mind ⋅ November 17, 2016

Oh ok!

Firebabe November 17, 2016

"A bit less conspicuous if you’re trying to browse in a semi-public place and stay under the radar."

Oh porn sites, is there anything you haven't taught us?

Kidding aside, great job on the upgrades man, seriously.

simple mind Firebabe ⋅ November 17, 2016

Heh, thanks. :-)

Pretty Fly Jedi November 17, 2016

I guess it is time to check out the new site lol I'm stubborn since I do it all from my phone :-)

simple mind Pretty Fly Jedi ⋅ November 17, 2016

This new option is a lot better for mobile anyway since the screen isn't large enough to see side bars.

Leanne 🌈 November 17, 2016

Digging this option lol was hurting my eyes transitioning from dark to light colored entries. Mucha gracias senior 👏👍🙌.

Gonewiththebreeze November 17, 2016

Thank you so much for all your hard work, the site is just amazing!!

raynedrop November 17, 2016

Have been using .com for a bit now and I really enjoy it.
All the kudos to you for all your hard work!

BaybNJoe November 19, 2016

When is the transition?

simple mind BaybNJoe ⋅ November 19, 2016

Soon! Just making sure I get all the major things like the editing toolbar and user search before forcing everyone over to the new site (though you can hop on prosebox.com at any time, it's looking pretty good at this point).
