The psychology of the Book Crate games out strangely. This doesn't matter in cases of Total Success. Because that's Total Success, self-explanatory. (And indeed rates of total success and overjoyed friends have been high.) But even then... I have made a big move, in an area where there are boundaries. Of some sort.

One thing I have thought about it... It can be presumptuous to shove one good book at someone - or give it unsolicited - and say, "This is so great. You gotta read this. You gotta read this. Have you read it yet? You gotta read it! " Does giving a WHOLE BUNCH of good books so diffuse and detoxify that presumptuous pressure, with so many alternatives for each - "you can read any of these, see what grabs you" - that the sum more than compensates for the REMARKABLE presumptuousness of perpetrating the gift crate AS A WHOLE?

I have no idea. The thing is of a good nature, but it stands pretty naked to questionability. :-)
