October:

I didn’t read as many books in October. I have only been home 1 weekend so far this month so it’s been BUSY. And I’m tired. And it was the baseball post-season.

The Secret Place - Tana French

Another Tana French. It was good, like all the others but not my favourite. Some of the plot was so good and interesting and her character development is excellent but then all of one group of girls have this weird magic power which is arbitrary and doesn’t even figure in to the plot. Wait…what?

Commonwealth - Ann Patchett

One of the best of the year. I loved this book. I watched the pages dwindle away as I was reading it and I got SO sad. I could have read hundreds of more pages. The story is told in moments or vignettes. For instance when a character gets divorced, you don’t find out that they get divorced in real time in the story. It will be revealed somehow in one of the vignettes. It’s an interesting storytelling technique that enables the author to tell the stories of multiple characters without the story getting too bogged down. The reader becomes like a friend who visits in on the characters and is able to learn about other family members from that character’s perspective.

Find Her - Lisa Gardner

Not one of my fave Lisa Gardner books. It was like the Tana French. This book was recommended by some reading lists like “Broken Harbor” was but I liked a lot of their books better. Oh well, at least I was introduced to the authors.

2016 total: 61 books

I still think "FIND HER" is an awesome name for a book.

You read more books in a week than I do in three months! Always impressed. And your reviews have inspired me to put certain books on my "to read" list. Well done. Yay. Go, you.

Over and out.
