It has really thrown me for a loop and take some getting used to but Miles has a completely different temperament than Cody did at this age. And by that I mean holy crap can he ever be cranky! When he is awake I can barely put him down for very long at all before he wants to be held. And a lot of the time he will not even let me sit on the couch and hold him so I end up walking around with him and so by the end of the day I am so tired. On the plus side he goes down for the night around 6pm most nights and then we just have Cody up until 8pm. But seriously I will feed Miles when he wakes up and he only lasts 5 minutes or so in his bouncer or on his play mat or even just lying on the floor chewing on a toy before he wants me. He's gotten to really love the Jolly jumper though which is great because he is sometimes will happily jump in it for an hour while watching what everyone is up to. But if I just need a minute to do something when he wants to be held and I put him down he definitely knows how to scream the place down. Wow! Lol
And then there are his 45 minute naps. When he is up for 2 hours and then only has a 45 minute nap (which feels more like 10 minutes) he is so cranky and it makes for a really long day for me without much of a break. I'm not a fan of cry it out at all but the other day after he'd had two 45 minute naps and was constantly rubbing his eyes and fussing, when he woke up after another 45 minutes I went and put his soother in and decided to let him cry for 10 minutes tops to see if he would nap longer. Well I couldn't believe it but he was back to sleep in 5 minutes and he ended up sleeping 2 hours! And he was so much happier afterwards. Since then, I've done the same thing twice and both times he cried 5 minutes and then ended up sleeping longer. I actually just did it at1pm today and he's been asleep over an hour and a half now. This is wonderful! I was actually able to clean our disastrous kitchen, tidy the family room and write on here. Yay! He still wakes up around 3 times in the night to be fed but he goes back to sleep right afterwards so it's not a big deal really. 20 minutes and I'm back in bed.
Cody is 2.5 as of the 23rd of this month and he has been such an awesome kid lately. He plays quietly, has barely been throwing tantrums, he's eating and sleeping well and he even helps me with Miles by grabbing me the burp cloth when he spits up (which is a lot) or getting him his toy or a soother. He's so easy to take care of it's wonderful. He still isn't really talking and only knows 7 words (his latest being wow which he says when he sees big trucks outside and food on TV lately lol). His favorite things to do these days at home are play with his train set or pull all his little cars out and line them up or run around with two kid-sized hockey sticks hitting a ball around until his face is bright red. He's also still really cuddly and will cuddle with me on the couch but more so when he's really tired.
Anyways, I'll leave it there for now as I would like to get some reading in before Miles wakes up.
