Forget Cold as a Witch's Teat... in Ponderings of the Universe

...or cold as a well digger's ass. Today, it is as cold as fucking Mars here. Literally. At least, in some parts of northern MN. Awww yeah.

Being that I'm quite coddled, it honestly wasn't that bad for me. Aaron got his car started and warming up about 5 minutes before we left for school so it was tolerable. I wore fleece-lined leggings, sweatpants, warm socks, giant winter boots, two undershirts, a long sleeved long underwear top, and an acrylic sweater in addition to my usual hat, coat, etc. The only part of me that felt remotely miserable was the bit of my face that was exposed for the 2 minutes I was outside. Plus, our old, poorly insulated house is keeping remarkably warm. I love our radiators.

Class today was silly. It was like being in undergrad what with only having one class for 2 hours. All this week and a few days next week I only have to be there from 8-10, plus it's lecture captured so I believe I will skip on Friday as I have large animal clerk duty from 6:00 until 12:30 the night before. I had Ultrasound today, which was...eh. We talked about the physics behind ultrasonography, some of which I had learned in undergrad, which is interesting but a little much for my poor brain on the first day back. One of the professors also did a demo on a service dog puppy one of my classmates is fostering. I was more interested in the dog than the demo :P She's a five and a half month old German Shepherd Dog and so gorgeous.

I've recently realized how desperately I miss playing music. Aaron and I watched the first season of Elementary and the opening song is really fun. It reminds me of the times when you are playing as loud as you possibly can yet can't hear yourself because you're surrounded by the sound of the music made by your orchestramates also playing as loud as they can. It's a thrilling sensation. And the realization that I haven't picked up my violin in nearly 8 years makes me ache inside a little bit. When I'm done with school and established in a job, a routine, I may look into finding a casual orchestra type of thing I could joint. Or save up for a cello and take lessons. Maybe see if I can convince Aaron to take lesson too if he has the time and we can play awesome cello-cello or cello-violin duets.

Ooh! Genevieve and I have decided that we want to start having a semi-regular arts and crafts night! At least this semester when I am more available. I know it sounds kind of dorky but she and I are really excited about it! It sounds laid back and, if we do it right, relatively inexpensive. Plus, it's something different that just going out to eat, which is how we've been hanging out a lot most recently. I really home we can try to do this every other or every 3 weeks because I really miss hanging out with Genevieve! It's so frustrating having such a busy schedule all the time!

I'm going to warm up some dinner for my grandma. And then maybe think of some food for myself! My mum made a giant pot of chili yesterday so that should be extra amazing today!
