Always strive for humanity.

Another one that is not a direct quote, but a theme. Several meanings are encompassed in this statement. “Do not become stagnant.” “Do not digress as a person.” “Do not degrade other humans.” “Do not become an animal.” “Better yourself.”

The end of Leto II’s “Golden Path” was to spread out humanity, so that no force could enslave or wipe out humanity. He complained of humanity’s stagnation and complacency. The means he used to spread them out again and push their evolution involved enslavement, totalitarianism, genetic manipulation, and other devious tactics for a greater good. We can push our own evolution and not let it first come to stagnation. We can still choose to expand our education, physical ability, wealth, spiritual growth, et cetera, without the need of a God Emperor with prescience choosing the only path that ends optimally. In doing so, the goal is not to lose humanity, but to gain a greater version of it until there is perfection. The end result is still to be human.
