I am so sick of hearing about how allowing trangender individuals to use the bathroom of their choice is violating your “civil rights.” Being a bigotted jerk is not ACTUALLY a protected right in the Bill of Rights. You aren’t protected from lifestyles and idividuals that make you uncomfortable. You’re allowed to bitch about it until you are blue in the face but you aren’t actually allowed to legislate it.
That being said, guess what Sparky? You’ve been using the bathroom with trangender individuals your entire life and you likely never even knew. Why? BECAUSE THEY JUST WANT TO PEE. They aren’t there to molest you or your children. They aren’t there to “check you out” or anything else. They just want to use the facilities and move on with their day. If the though of them in the bathroom with you makes you so umcomfortable how uncomfortable do you think they are with you trying to check out their genitals because they don’t “look” female or male enough? Which one of you is the sick freak? hint: It’s the panty police.
I’m also sick to death of hearing ” but God made you blah blah blah”. I don’t care the tiniest bit what your God thinks. You also don’t care what my God thinks. We don’t have to because that pesky Bill of Rights protects our freedom of Religion. It also means we can’t legislate from a position of religion because we aren’t a theocracy, we are a Republic. These are the same people having heart attacks over Shariah Law while trying to instate their own Christian version of just that. Believe God made you to be what you were gendered at birth? GREAT! Be that! Let everyone else be what they feel they need to be. Live and let live. Fluffy happy people and all.
Also, you can’t espouse controvertial and dickish opinions on social media and follow it with the disclaimer “This is my opinion, it is not open for debate.” That isn’t how this works. You’re more than happy for people to fill your hate-filled status with their agreements but not their dissent. That makes you a jerk who just wants people to fawn over you and not disagree with your precious little princess feelings. If you’re going to step out and say something you know is going to be opening a can of worms at least have the guts to take the backlash. You don’t get to live in a little bubble where everyone agrees with you.
The moral high horse a lot of these people are attempting to ride is astounding as well. One of my “friends”, and I use that term loosely, says this “tranny thing” is the moral downfall of this country. Mind you, this woman has been addicted to prescription opiates for over a decade. She was getting high and leaving her 3 year old son to fend for himself or pawning him off on neighbors so she didn’t have to deal with him. She called me two days after I had a major surgery asking if she could have some of my pain pills. Her husband finally found out, divorced her, took complete custody of the child, she only had supervised visitation. She eventually gave up on that because it was too difficult. A few rehabs, a few OD’s, and an amputation later she gets the hint that she might have a problem and “scales back”. But, that “tranny thing” is moral decay not being a deadbeat addict. Sometimes I wish these people would stick to their own Bible “He who is without sin cast the first stone, asshole”. Well, maybe I paraphrased.
Then there is the “save the children” rallying cry that is supposed to be the be-all end-all argument for all things. These bathroom laws don’t make children any safer. First, you can’t equate trangender men and women with pedophiles. These two things are NOT the same. Secondly, molesting children in a bathroom is already illegal. You’re not making it any more or less illegal. You’re not making it any harder or easier for a pedophile to offend. 85% of pedophiles are someone you or your child are close to. They are family, friends, parents of friends, teachers, coaches, priests, and others with a lot of access to children. They work under the radar. They groom children to make the abuse easier and to protect themselves from detection. The do NOT tend to just waltz into a bathroom with a beard and a dress and grab a kid. Now, you will have a handful of outliers. Those outliers are going to be batshit crazy sick bastards no matter what the law is. So this argument is illegitimate.
It is incredibly stupid that we are scared to use the bathroom with someone of the opposite gender. It doesn’t increase your risk of attack. There is nothing sacred that goes on in women’s bathrooms that needs to be protected. You’re peeing for craps sake (see what I did there?). I don’t understand why we have gender segregated bathrooms anyway. Start making floor to ceiling stalls and let people pee where they may. Stop being scared and stupid because you don’t understand something and it makes you uncomfortable. Stop using your religion as a shield for prejudice.
Finally, these “bathroom bills” put transgender individuals at extreme risk. You are making them choose between following the law and their personal safety. Trangender women especially are brutally attacked and killed in a higher percentage than any other demographic. It is dangerous to force her to use a man’s bathroom because she was gendered male at birth. It will at best lead to complete humiliation and at worst lead to death. What right do you have to inflict that on another person just because you want to pee with people just like you? I pee next to you all the time and I’m a bisexual genderfluid female-presenting and gendered individual. I have yet to assault anyone in a bathroom.
