Wednesday's happenings in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

7:30-Did some weed eating on the side of the house, a little cleaning out in the strawberry and blackberry garden area. Cleaned gutters on back of house. Started on the front side and the rains stopped that plan. I did get the gutter section over the garage cleaned out before the rain got serious. Folded up the tall ladder and left it on the front porch so I won’t have to drag it out of the garage next time gutter cleaning for the front strikes me.

I was back in the house by 9:00 AM and there was a message on my house phone from the employee that retired the same time I did asking if today would work for us to meet for lunch. I called them back and talked to his wife this time, and we’re going to meet at 12:30 in hometown for lunch and visit. I from this time on refer to them as my friends. He will be referred to as Tom and his wife as Ellie. Not fond of continuing to use the term for him as “employee” since he isn’t any longer and I’m not his supervisor. He and his wife sharing responsibilities of raising twin grandkids with the other set of grandparents. Geeze I’m so thankful I don’t have that responsibility.

Going to try and see what happens when I eat something but first going to take a shower and get the washing machine going.

Thursday AM
Well I obviously didn’t back here yesterday. So will try to remember yesterday afternoon. I met Tom and Elle at the little restaurant in home town. They were running a bit late, but that was fine. I knew eating was going to be a challenge with the jaw swelling so when they did arrived I ordered the egg salad sandwich special and forewarned them I would be eating slowly and swelling would occur on my left cheek. Slow was good and it did swell but I avoided the major pain that usually accompanies it. Well until last night but that is my fault I suppose as I ate a bit too fast cause I was so hungry. Lesson learned.
We had a really good visit and they treated me to lunch. I didn’t expect that but he’d taken care of the bill and tip on his way back from using the restroom. I’ll treat next time and I’m sure there will be a next time. We are both so very glad we retired and even though his final retirement pay calculation is still being decided, he isn’t sorry that he retired. I told him, it probably wouldn’t matter when he retired, the HR people would still be doing this to him. I really hope they get it fixed for them soon and I was relieved to know they were still doing ok financially until this is resolved. We said our goodbyes and see you laters around 2:30 and I made a quick stop at the bank and then on home. I didn’t get much done except another load of laundry and washing up some dishes.

Today is J’s appointment with the breathing specialist and I’m trying to control my nerves. He is awake and getting dressed and my plan is to leave around 8:30. His appointment isn’t until 10 but I’ve never been to this clinic so I want to make sure I find it and we can get to the office a little early. I have filled out the papers they sent my as best I could but there were several of the questions, I just don’t the answers to. I so hope and pray that a mask can be acquired that will fit him properly and he doesn’t have to do another sleep study. Time will tell and he needs to be able to get the RIM sleep he needs. I know for sure that his weight is an issue and the specialist will probably not be happy with either of us, but more me than J. I just hope that no surgery is brought up for a Trach. I am not sure if I’ll be able to keep it together in front of J if it is.

Not sure what we will do after the appointment. We have to get that done before I know what we’re going to feel like doing. My head is hurting because of nerves and the swelling and I will just be glad when there is a solution. I think I’ll be glad when this appointment is over too.
