I dont know if you all hear about what happened in Kalamazoo? I live in Portage, but grew up in Kalamazoo. MY family all still live in Kalamazoo.

There was a mass shooting in Kalamazoo Saturday night. 6 people dead and 3 injured. One girl, a 14 years old still cling to life, in hospital. Most are saying she probably wont make it. How sad!

Ryan and I took the kids and Lexi’s friend Madison to nature trail, our dog Suh need an outside time. The weather was warm, and it was perfect day to do so. We went around 4:30p and walked and was done by 5:30 and we left the area around 6. few minutes after we left, 3 sheriff zoomed by FAST, we thought nothing of it, probably a drug bust ( which is very rare) or a really bad accident ( which do happen often in the area we were in) We head home, made dinner, then dropped Madison off and then dropped our kids off at my parents. ( I live 8 minutes away from Kalamazoo) Then head up to Stadium/ Main st to watch a movie “Witch” we could go to the one in Portage, but they don’t have CC glasses or the handheld CC device… uhhh anyway, went to the movies. Watched witch, it was good. I think it need more though.

After the movie, we went to grab something to eat. Then went to Meijer, and got a BIG wine for my mom… for watching my kids. Then went to my parents to pick mykl up ( Lexi wants to stay the night) and went home.

Ryan and I watched the news and found out there was a mass shooting.
3 locations. Every one of them is when we were in the area. Crazy. The meadow townhome was like probably 2 minutes from the trails…
The movie theatre is about 4 minutes from the Kia car lot and the crackle barrel is down the road… and the downtown where he was caught is literally couple minutes from my parents.

The guy decide to go to the meadows and found a woman in a car with kids, and shoot at the woman, injured her. Left, and crashed his car. Between that and 2nd location, he talked to his family and got another car a HHR.
went to Kia, found a Father and a Son ( 18) killed them and failed to see the woman in the car with them, in the backseat. That was our #1 witness. He went to 3rd location, the cracker barrel, and went up to two vehicles parked right beside them, and shoot at 4 women and one girl (14) that was inside the vehicles. 4 women were immediately killed, the girl is still fighting for her life.
he drove past the downtown and a police office spotted the car and pulled him over, and he gave up without a fight. So he was taken into custody at 1 am.

People are going crazy with this news. You don’t see that here in kalamazoo. We have crimes, but they are probably small crimes such as breaking and entering, gang fights, stuff like that. But not this… So this was a huge hit.

Last night we had silence candle for the victims, and their families. It is definitely sad. Govt of Michigan decide to lower the flag for 6 days for those victims.

But what is even crazier is that, this guy is also a uber driver. he was driving crazy for this man, going too fast and stuff like that. HIs wife posted on kalamazoo site on FB ( which I did see when I looked at FB) around 5pm and said do not ride with this man… posted a picture of him. Thinking he might have an illness or forget to take his medication .. whatever… Saturday must not be his day/night.

If you want to check out the news about this, type in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mass shooting, the man’s last name is Dalton.

It has been horrible. I'm from Ottawa County so it has been all over our news.... as you well know because we have the same local stations. You always think that kind of stuff doesn't happen "in our towns" but there it is... we have the Muskegon Heights thing going on here where schools won't send their teams to their high school in fear of getting shot due to the violence going on there. Pretty bad when GR schools won't come to another town.
