Hello there Readers!I guess it is time I wrote an entry again! It has been a busy month and interesting as well. The weather is humid and at the moment ,fine however, rain lurks.it is now a month since I slept with anything but a sheet covering me!very tropical and normally the nighttime temperature is 19-20 C. with day time temps in the middle 20’s C with occasional rises to 28-29C.However, no drought and no SW and as I say that I bear in mind that as 3 low pressure areas move on we might just chance a SW!I have had a month of catching up on bills and spending a little on myself!Last year,I promised myself I would get new underwear and shoes. This year it became imperative I do just that, whatever my budget advisor said.Being generous of bosom,my bras were giving up and my knickers, well, tattered is a nice description! Also I needed some summer shoes.I have deformed toes through arthritis and they are difficult to get shoes for.So heedless of my advisor and with the financial help of a small dividend that from shares my Mother left me in her estate,I WENT TO TOWN!I put that in capitals because it was 9 months since I had gone to Auckland City!
Yes I do not take the ferry over to the metropolis very often, because:
!.I spend too much money
2.I find the city impersonal and full of people obsessed with giving the impression they are VERY VERY IMPORTANT and BUSY!
3.The traffic is dreadful and to me.dangerous!
A few other reasons, however, that will suffice.I chose a very wet Saturday and after having got wet walking Taitai early and sort of drying off I caught an early bus,(got wet again!) and an early ferry,’cos I thought not a lot of people go shopping on a wet Saturday! And I was right!
I went to the nearest big chainstore because it was cheaper and I managed to get 2 new bras,(and tried them on,because one of my daughters reckoned I was bigger than I thought in the bust department and she was right!).Very pretty too and very comfortable, 5 pairs of knickers, and 3 pairs of shoes and a new umbrella as my old one blew inside out then broke!I spent $110.00 and an hour there, then caught the next ferry home!I looked like a train wreck,as I had got wet so many times, and it didn’t worry me one bit!Grabbed a welcome coffee and sandwich on the ferry and came home very pleased with myself.
It strikes me as funny, how important purchases like that are.I guess it is my age and up bringing.I was ashamed of my undies and shoes!Mind you I have been on a very tight budget for 2 years and was thrilled to have new fresh undergarments!
My birthday was very enjoyable and my older brother bought me a iphone4 new. There starts a saga!I belong to a smaller telcom which has given me very good service for 7 years and wanted my iphone to stay with them.It had a sim card for one of the big telcos.
So I rang my provider and arranged a plan for the hone and a sim card to be sent over.TThe sim card arrived almost 2 weeks later,(the left hand right hand problem) They didn’t communicate and only after a week of phone calls from me,I finally got it,and it was too small!I told them at the start I wanted to kee my current mobile number. The next sim arrived, and it fitted, however,it was for a new number!Oh lordy!I nearly said,”Oh thats OK”, then thought of notifying everyone who has my mobile number,so insisted the telcom send another with my old number on it!And now I am still waiting! And I still can’t use the new iphone!Oh my goodness!Still,I hope it will all be worth it!Ha ha!
I intend to get rid of my landline which costs $54.00 per monthand which I don’t use much and only 2 people ring me on it!What a hoot!
Then, early this week, our vacuum cleaner died!My daughter Penny and I share the cleaner and neither of us can afford a new cleaner or even a cheap secondhand one and we were flummoxed. So after some thought I put a notice on the local social media Pay It Forward’ and have a free one arriving this afternoon!Marvellous! So blest!
And this weekend, I am going to a wedding down country which I had originally decided I would not to attend as too expensive! It is a niece. My 2 daughters elected to go and me stay home and look after the kids and animals. Then one daughter couldn’t go.So the other daughter persauded me to go.And my older granddaughter,Samantha,19 and her boyfriend are going to stay and look after kids and animals!AND the fares for me taken care of.Incredible eh!So after 9 months on ‘the Rock’ I am off even further!AND I have new shoes and underwear to wear and a new caftan top that I got for my birthday!I am one lucky Granny! We are satying with my sister-in-law Joan and coming back Sunday! The bride is one of a family of 11 children so catch up with all the rellies as well.
Anyway so that is all great so far.
I must express quite an interest in the politics of the USA at the moment.Fascinating!I have always kept an eye on international politics esp.USA as the system is s different to ours. And this one is so gripping with Donald Trump causing all sorts of chaos!I wait with bated breath!
I won’t write any more at t
he moment as I am running out of time! So,heres hoping you are all well and happy,
Lots of love,
Majimazexxxx

You sound like a pretty funny lady - your sense of humor pops out of your entry!
I suppose that patience is a virtue that will be rewarded when you finally manage to get the right phone number and sim card for the new iphone.

I'm glad someone is enjoying our politics = we certainly aren't.

I think we are so easy to buy things for others at the expense of our own comfort. Enjoy your little trip. Loved seeing the side of Auckland you see. :-)

Don't like Trump. The two from the other party would also be a disaster. No idea who I will vote for at this time.
