She thinks it’s fucking bullshit how drug addicts are treated like shit in the media and by society in general. She’s been addicted to one substance or another since she was a teenager (with some clean times) and she knows for a fact that it’s not a lifestyle that anyone aspires to live. It sucks. Wondering where she’s gonna come up with the cash for her $50-a-day habit, hoping and praying that her dope man answers the phone and that he’s good, feeling like absolute shit when she can’t get high (and btw she’s been addicted to drugs like heroin, which people know have physical withdrawal symptoms, and she’s been addicted to drugs like meth, which supposedly doesn’t produce physical withdrawal, and she’ll tell you that at least for her, she feels like a mutilated corpse when she doesn’t have her drug of choice, no matter which one it happens to be at the time). Anyway, it may surprise people to know that there are plenty of people who use hard drugs and are still good people. She likes to think of herself as one, though she’s not completely sure about that.

She likes stimulants. Uppers. Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvance - but mostly meth (ice). And guess what? She’s not some crazy, horrible monster. She doesn’t prostitute herself. She doesn’t steal (well, she does “skim” out of the household funds, so I guess in a way she does), she doesn’t commit crimes (other than buying/using drugs). She’s not violent. She’s fairly normal. But when people find out the truth about her they tend to back away slowly and then run in the other direction, because of the scare tactics that the cops and the media use to demonise addicts (and, admittedly, because of the bad behaviour of some addicts).

She’s not trying to say hard drugs are harmless. They’re not. She knows better than anyone that they lead to a shitty existence. Being an addict is fucking hard. It’s killing her, day after day, year after year. She wouldn’t wish addiction on anyone.

She wants to get clean. That’s the dream, to be able to live a normal life without smoking or snorting various substances just to get through the day. She’s just really scared that she can’t do it. She’s just a person.
