Today is the winter solstice. Unfortunately, it reminds me of one thing, and one thing only, which makes it a not-so-great day for me. And it's raining and gloomy outside on top of it - how appropriate.
I also finally watched Love Actually this afternoon with my daughter (Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead is in it, so she's been bugging me all week to watch it). Despite being a little cheesy and unrealistic, I thought it was actually a really cute movie. Not everything works out perfectly, which is life, but there was enough positivity to end on a high note. I think it's a good movie for couples to watch, tho' if I had waited for that, I'd never see the damn thing.
Kara is going to Grandma's tomorrow night so I can finish up my X-mas shopping on Monday. I have a couple of things to return and I need to get the stocking stuffers. I would like to get something for my parents, but they are the most difficult people in the world to shop for!
Tomorrow afternoon I'm getting together with my friends to do gift exchanges for our kids. Since none of us are well-off, we made a $5 per child limit (I only have one, and they each have 2 a piece, and I'm the only single person who doesn't have any kind of second income to help). I hope all the ungrateful children can at least pretend to be happy about what they get... O_o
