Christmas money in Another Open Diary refugee

It's six o'clock in the morning and I'd much rather still be asleep, but the cats are being little pains in the RUMP. They keep squabbling with each other and the fur is flying. I got up and let Zho-Zho out to see if that would help, but it didn't make any difference. John thinks Tessie is feeling a little insecure without her fangs... I think she's just tired of being bottom cat. Either way, the fur is flying fairly regularly around here this week and I wish they'd settle their differences before somebody gets hurt and we have to take them to the vet (which we can NOT afford!)

I just got an email with our christmas present from mama and daddy... usually they just put money into my bank account but this year they've sent us an Amazon voucher instead. I'm sure it was easier for them and they don't have to worry about exchange rates or transaction fees, but I feel guilty at the thought of buying more 'stuff' when we have medical expenses that we can't pay for. I don't have any trouble spending the small vouchers that my brother usually sends me (I save them until there's something that I really want and then spend them on something for the house and any surplus goes on small luxury items that can't be easily got in a bricks-and-mortar store - my last purchase was a pretty new cane, colouring books, and ginger candy for nausea), but this is more money than I spend on 'stuff' in an entire year. I wanted a proper bed so that we didn't need the box spring any more, but I don't think Amazon is the place to buy furniture... I guess we'll hang onto the money for now - there's no hurry to spend an Amazon certificate and there's bound to be something we really need later on. (not to seem ungrateful, they DO sell clothes and stuff on Amazon... I'm looking at their big-and-tall menswear now. The prices are fairly high, but clothes in John's size cost a fortune anywhere. I can get mine in the thrift store, but his we have to hunt around for in 'real' stores...)
