The Cloud in All Things Spooky

My 2nd ghost story. This is actually not a ghost story. It’s an angel story. :)

When I was around 10, I lived in Germany where my dad was stationed with the US Air Force. We lived on base at the time, and our building was directly behind the elementary school.

One day my two best friends and I were playing on the school playground. It was a weekend, and we were the only ones around.

On the playground there was a large aluminum slide, maybe 10 feet high. As I climbed the ladder, one of my friends dared me to climb over the “protective” railing. We were always daring each other to do dumb, and sometimes dangerous things, and I rarely passed up a chance to show off. This was not one of those rare times.

I climbed over the railing backwards and promptly fell. As I was falling, I expected to land on my back. This is what would normally happen. But then, I almost never did anything in the normal way.

For example, when I was 6 years old, my mother fixed tacos for dinner. You can imagine her consternation when I refused to put anything inside of my taco shells. Instead, I ate the taco shells and proclaimed to anyone who would listen that I had had giant Fritos for dinner.

And so it happened that instead of falling to the ground in the normal way, I simply floated. I know. It sounds incredible. Implausible. Impossible. But I’m telling you it happened to me. It was like a cloud was underneath me. A pillow made of clouds. I could see an angel in my mind. She was very big; she had wings and dark hair.

My friends watched this happening with eyes the size of dinner plates. One of them screamed “Run!” and we took off like little bats out of hell. I was not afraid, in fact I can still see my angel smiling, but I think my friends were a little freaked out. I suppose I might have been freaked out as well if I had seen something like that happening!

I believe it was at this point that I was starting to consciously open up to Spirit. Not that it held anything good for me in the near future….
