Just watched Downton Abbey and can only say the dinner table scene made me jump in my seat! I’m disappointed in the weak resolutions to storylines (Lady Mary’s blackmailer, Baxter’s non-confrontation with the ne’er-do-well who led her down the path to ruin, the dowager’s non-firing of her maid, you know, cop-outs like that), but Robert’s ulcer story caught me completely off-guard. It seems an up & down season.

Mom and I both jumped and gasped. That's one sure way to bring a dinner party to a screeching halt! Mary overheard the Dowager Countess talking about Marigold.(who in their right mind names a kid "Marigold"?) Do you think Mary will make trouble for Edith when she figures it out?

It was not uncommon to name daughters after flowers in the Edwardian age. Hard to know how Mary will react. I'm guessing she'll be supportive and it'll be a happy resolution to the sister competition. I think we'll see a lot of easy (lazy) wrap-ups like this.

Never got into DA-meant to but I would fall asleep just as it was starting. My sister had the first season on dvd and lent it to me, don't remember where I put it---oops!

If I miss episodes, I go to the PBS website and watch them there. It's an accurate look at the Edwardian era.
