video game music has to keep you rapt with the games narrative, whether chosen for the set pieces or made for the game, these tunes stay with us and help define our experiences, been these epic adventures that give us life lessons or manic puzzles to catch the mice.

I'll keep it to a single song per game/franchise tho and include a justification.

Cloud's theme (FF7):- The beautiful orchestral backdrop to one of the greatest stories ever told in gaming.

The best is yet to come (MGS) :- you made it, you survived, saved the world. the juxtaposition of the combat and this song makes for a wonderful credits.

Adagio for strings (Homeworld) :- You return home and your planet is burning, you are alone. I cried, I honestly did.

Marbel zone (Sonic) :- I was a mario kid, but sonic had better music.

The Legend of Zelda Main Theme (Zelda) :- A grandiose entry to what would be a adventure that would see you doing zero school work.

Synapse (Hong Kong Street) (Deus ex) :- The entire score fits the game so well, the loneliness, the mission, who to side with ?!?!!?!? NG Resonance will always have a special place in my heart

Slinger's Song (Bastion) :- Probably the best score indie game had, the music just fitted the characters and themes so much, very stylish tune.

Track 8 (Extreme G) :- First time I'd heard the future was the music on this game, the beat and the drive kept your heart beating.

Adam (G-Darius) :- If you ever find yourself battling aliens, play this.

Main Theme (worms) :- If you can't hum along with this, you don't game.

I stand alone ( PoP:WW) :- SHIIIIT BRIGHT EYES IS HERE RUUUUUUNNNN!

Gym Leader Battle (Pokemon Red/Blue) :- SO MUCH TENSION

Country music station (GTA):- It was all great but this one stands out, Anton Gordon understands.

Another World (Another World) :- Suspense, Mystery, Isolation and imminet threats to your health and safety. Music did it good.

This is Rupture Farms (Abe's oddysee):- with all the scale of a Kubrick film the music matched the shear vastness of it all. (music goes in and out of the story)

Introductory theme (Total Annihilation) :- If Carlsberg made introductory themes ....

Hellmarch (C&C: Red alert) :- Frank Klepacki making a driving bass line I'd swear for years to make into a metal track.

Mute city (F-zero) :- The is what the 26th century sounds like.

Rapmaster Rocket Racket (Toejam and Earl) :- Proof that corporations understand what kids think is cool

Chop Chop Master Onion Rap (Parappa the Rapper) :- Making games awesome. KICK! PUNCH!

Main Theme (Chu Chu Rocket) :- Music that was as sane as the game.

Halo Theme (Halo) :- whatever you think of the game, the music was utter brilliance

Still Alive (Portal) :- Lovely and cute, spawned a million memes, great cap to a great game.

Ancient Era (Civ4) :- It's literally the start of civilisation and the discovery of music.

War has never been so much fun (Cannon Fodder) :- Not endorsed by the Royal British Legion

I've missed tons and you may not agree with the ones I chose but yeah finally; Now you're a hero (You only have to burn the rope) :- Because you are a hero, you read the post and saved us all.
