5 year old boredom... in 2016

I asked Brady yesterday how he liked preschool. He said he likes to play with his friends. Then I asked him if he was learning stuff. He said, “No. I already know ask that stuff.” I look at his “syllabus” thing they and home and he knows all of it. Shapes, he can count to over 100, colors, he can even spell upwards of 20 words on his own.
I feel terrible. Like I failed him and he should have gone into kindergarten early.
Maddie on the other hand? Not so much. She can sing her ABCs, recognize a few shapes, and she’s pretty good at most colors.
I just feel bad that he’s bored. On the other hand, would he have struggled and gotten behind if I sent him early? I just don’t know.
He WANTS to learn. I printed off some sheets with each letter and a sentence to copy. He wanted to do them ALL last night. I’m definitely not bragging. But I’m proud that he’s a go-getter when it comes to learning. I do what I can while I’m home and without Maddie constantly interrupting us. It’s VERY important to me that he sounds intelligent as well. I correct his improper English (“I putted that away” for example.)
sigh
We have preschool conferences on the 8th. Have to see what she has to say. I know the last one, she said he’s an absolute joy and he’s the “whole package” when it comes to a student. Which I have seen on our dates. I just hope he continues that in life.
I don’t know where I was necessarily going with that.
Oh, we had a talk on when he’s going to sleep in his own bed. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don’t start.

That's great. Eric is in first now and still feels the same. I do the same as you....print pages of pinterest and read a lot to him. His teacher says the same. 'Such a great student.' At least they don't act out because they are bored.
