When will the tragedy end? in Everything Else

You know the saying “when it rains it pours?” I feel like our little community is drowning in tragedy. Over the past two and half to three years, there has been a rash of teen suicides. It is of epidemic proportions. The only answer anyone in this community wants is that we need more mental health and to lose the stigma attached to mental health issues. Nobody wants to even entertain the thought of locking up their guns. Not even when an eleven year old kills himself. Or the fifteen year old the day after Christmas. Everyone toughts being “B Tough” and then wonder why people opt to kills themselves when they need to be a little vulnerable and broken. They are not allowed to be.

Our company has lost so many employees over the last couple of years from illness. I found out today that my supervisor had to have surgery for a blood clot in his lung yesterday and another this afternoon. A half an hour ago I found out a coworker’s brother passed away from sepsis because he chose to not get medical or dental care. He was younger than me!

It is all so tragic and sad. Somethings we cannot change, we can’t sidestep cancer or random blood clots from a fall. We can’t escape an aneurysm who has decided now is the time. We can avoid suicide. We can avoid senseless killings. We, as a collective whole, won’t but we could. Oh the change we could make in the world if we truly did care and truly didn’t want to profit from death.
