Christmas! in My this and that

We had Christmas this past weekend. Saturday with my family and Sunday with Ben’s family.

For Saturday with my family I had planned a kind of minute-to-win-it game, ending with a sword drill where we looked up verses pertaining to Christmas. I had found a list of references online, and used that. It was cool because of course it had verses from the Christmas story in Luke and Matthew, but it also had verses from the old testament with the prophecy of Jesus birth, and I loved how it tied it together like that, and ended with a verse reminding us that Jesus sent his son to save us.

We had such a nice time, ate way too much food (mom tried to feed an army again), and it was one of my favourite Christmases I think.

Christmas on Sunday with Ben’s family was especially great because his oldest sister was in the city to celebrate with us. She’s a busy lady. She lived on the west coast for a while with her BF, but now she’s in Ontario for school. It’s quite expensive to travel within Canada because we are so large with such few people, so she can’t always afford to come home for holidays, but thankfully this year she could! It was so nice.

So it will just be me, Ben and Jake (our cat) for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year. It feels different to be just the two of us for the holiday, but it may be quite nice. We’re planning to go out for a sushi dinner on Christmas Eve, and I’m hoping we can hit the Christmas Eve service at church as well. Then Christmas day we will open our presents to each other (I am SO SO SO excited to give Ben his gifts this year), and I think we’ll do a movie marathon. We want to watch all the Star Wars movies before we go see the new one, even though yes we have been told that it’s not necessary to watch the old ones before seeing this one.

It's definitely not necessary to watch the prequels before watching the new one. Watching the originally is not really necessary, either, but it is more related to the originals.

That makes sense, since chronologically this one would come directly after the originals.

sword drill? I'm glad your Christmas is going nicely:)

Ya, a sword drill (or Bible drill), is when everyone has a Bible and holds it in the air by the spine, then a verse reference is said out loud, and when you are told "Go" you look up the verse as fast as you can. If you find it first you're the "winner".
