Christmas Story in the day

At our church christmas party mrs Raye who planned the party at 80 years old....told a story and we all gathered together to hear her…she said she was 8 or 9 years old had a brother and sister they lived in this small little house with only 2 bedrooms so all the kids slept in one room…It was a few weeks before christmas and the talk to the family was the same…there want be presents ..but we will have a good meal and christmas tree and will read the Bible around the fire place..the kids tried not to look disappointed but it was on their face…plain for everyone to see…on christmas eve they was gathered around the fire place singing christmas
carols when a knock on the door came to stop everyone in their tracks..her father got up from his rocking chair and went to the door..noone was there but there was a box ,Her father picked it up and brought it inside ,there was fruit and candy
can goods like veggies.. and there under the fruit was a ham…
The kids face lite up and they had a christmas that mrs Raye
will never forget…noone ever found who did it but the mystery has stayed with them all these years..her sister is in heaven now but her brother is still here and every christmas they still talk about who “gave them the best christmas ever”.

I hope he knew what a gift he gave them that wasnt in that box…but in their hearts.....
