So, Kasin is almost 9. He's in 3rd grade this year. His last year as a "primary" student. He learned my cell phone number this year, which he then decided he should give out to everyone he met. I taught him our home phone number (which we only had because my parents live in Idaho and I cant call long-distance on my cell phone...) and now the house phone is HIS phone. His friends call him, he calls his grandma, he talks to his friends and makes plans with them. It's cute, but its so.. grown up.
Seriously, how did he get so grown up? The ATTITUDE is absurd, too. He's soo sassy and he talks back and argues all the time. No more than I feel is appropriate for his age, but still. It's annoying. He responds well and is apologetic when I call him out on it, One of his favorite things to say in response to any criticism is, "YOU raised me!" Rude. :P
So, this is where it starts... the phone use. The tweeny attitude. The beginning of the end. No longer a baby, no longer a child, officially the beginning of the Big Kid years. Brat face ooh-laa-laa. His doing SO well in school, as I mentioned over on OD he got into ELP (the GT program) by a LANDSLIDE, he scored 99.99% in pretty much every area of the placement test. He got scored into like, 5th grade math skills and 6th-7th grade reading/writing abilities. !!! My baby!!! My little genius baby! :-*
He's still a major sissy about having his nails cut, his fingers and his toes. He cries and acts like I'm trying to kill him. He has been doing a horrible job brushing his teeth, and he just had a dental cleaning and flouride treatment yesterday- the hygenist was noooottttt happy with him. She said that she thinks I should be brushing his teeth every other day. HA! Like I'm gunna brush my almost 9 year old's teeth. Ha!! I asked her for a timer, so now he has a two minute timer for brushing. I can't imagine it'll help. He's notoriously lazy. I may just have to go back to sitting in the bathroom while he's brushing, to make sure he's doing a good job. He has to be constantly reminded to use the small brush/pick to get between his braces, and above them. He also has to be reminded how to properly wash his hair, since he likes to just put a glob of shampoo on his hair and rubs it around with a flat palm and then rinses it out. Oiy.
Growing up. snifF

I FOUND YOU!!
I struggle with Brecken actually washing his hair/body and brushing his teeth well, too. I usually break down once a week and do it all -- scrub his head, wash him, and brush his teeth. If I don't, I know it will never be done right! Even though it's totally ridiculous to have to do that for a 7 year old, I refuse to have the stinky kid. I remember to this day who the smelly kids were in my class in elementary school. That's not gonna be my kid.
