So everything is sorted out at work. Our team had to be cut down from 12 to 7 field nurses. Three have got positions with other projects, I’m going to the Telephone Support Line full-time, and 2 of the other girls are going to job-share between their areas and the Support Line. So all good, no-one got made redundant. The company we work for is really good like that. They do everything they can to redeploy you rather than let you go. They have regularly been voted in the Top 10 companies to work for.
On top of all these shenanigans, my “new” Line Manager sent me an e-mail at the beginning of the week saying that at their latest Managers’ meeting my name was put forward for the new position of Clinical Governance Lead for the project. This is not a paid position, obviously, it’s just where I get more work pushed on me for no extra! Actually it’s a pretty responsible post, where all Project pro-forma that is used gets run by me as a team representative to ensure that it would be fit for purpose as well as in line with best practice. I have to admit I was quite chuffed that they asked me. AND it also means I will be taken off as Database Lead Nurse. Although I use the thing every day I never felt that I knew enough about it, when people asked me questions! LOL
Tuesday will see me visiting the clients headquarters near Heathrow with 2 colleagues. We’re going to be given a lecture on Fertility and contraception. When on the medication we work with women are warned that they need to use contraception, or if planning a family, will need to stop taking it. So I guess we’ll be given the safest options etc. Then on Wednesday and Thursday we have our December team meeting at a swish country hotel near Windsor. Don’t get that with the NHS! LOL
A Manager from another project has also asked me if I’d act as mentor to one of her new staff members. Apparently this newbie is having problems with the company’s admin procedures like expenses, mileage claims etc. Having been there 3 years now I am pretty au fait with it all so I said no problem. After talking to the manager it sounds like this new person has some attention deficit problems. Anyway, I phoned her (the newbie) on Friday, left a message for her to get back to me, but not heard anything yet. All our expenses and stuff have to be done by December 14th to make the wage run for the month. If I don’t hear by Tuesday I will have to get in touch with her manager again.
Had no feedback from the last house viewers and that was a week ago. Nothing else happening at the moment, but not surprised with it getting so close to Xmas. I should think buying a house would be low on the list at this time of year. I’m just hoping it’s the same for the one we want in Cornwall. It is still on the internet sites ‘For Sale’, so fingers crossed.
Managed to get rid of the old motorbike I’ve had for ages. I was initially going to do it up for sale, but it was proving a nightmare trying to get parts for it, and with an impending move to a house with only a single garage, I needed it gone. After 2 or 3 idiots that said they wanted it then backed out, finally got one that said yes and meant it. He picked it up last night. Didn’t get what I wanted for it, but at least it’s gone.
After all the accounts were settled for our static caravan, from the lettings during the season, and the costs for cleaning etc., plus the fees for next year, we ended up with a nice cheque for just over £400, which was a nice surprise. We’ve always said we’re not in it to make a profit, just as long as next year’s fees are covered. So a lovely little bonus just before Xmas.
Well, that’s all for this missive.
Stay safe, Peeps.
