so thankful it is friday…

succeeded at another project and finished right before a meeting where i presented it.

previously i had created a set of maps to show where programs are in the district.

one of my colleagues has kept prodding me to be able to add the number of students in each program to our maps. i thought it was a good idea, but didn’t see how it could be done in application and be able to be updated in an easy format.

however yesterday afternoon i had an epiphany. i do some work with our projections and had to use a match format for that project. it got me thinking about how this could be used to create a template and we could feed data into this and it would automatically update our data for us with a few minor tweaks here and there.

at this point i think it would take about half an hr a week to recreate these maps using the new datasets.

this is basically the underpinnings of it all:

=VLOOKUP($A2,TEXT!$M$1:$AJ$1003,MATCH($M$1,TEXT!$M$1:$AJ$1,0),FALSE)
