Day Eight: What’s the best memory you have before age 15?

I have many positive memories from my childhood. I think the memories of my first best friend are the best ones…a particular one always makes me smile and finds itself inserted into many dreams I have had over the years.
I am a three year old strawberry blonde playing on the floor of my living room with a three and a half year old blonde haired/blue eyed boy named Jonathan. We are playing with a farm set and a sesame street house that my mother has painted the rooms of and even made little rugs for. We play house with this farm and sesame house while Sesame Street plays in the background. I look up and notice the sun spilling into the window and creating a glow to Jonathan’s hair. I tell him the sun makes him look like an angel from my coloring book (precious moments). He giggles and kisses my nose.
That’s it…it was a simple, innocent period of my life with a simply sweet little boy. His world was crashing down around him at the time yet he was innocent, happy, content to sit and play on my living-room floor and cuddle with me for daily naps. His dad died a few months later and I didn’t see him except once when we were six and then when we finally found each other as college students on MySpace.
