it feels like it has been a few years since halloween fell on a saturday.

but some friends and i bought tickets to see rocky horror picture show at the cemetary for halloween. show started at 7 or thereabouts and gates open about 5:30. we had planned this about a month ago and part of the ticket “required” costumes. now, i’m not big on costumes or dressing up for these type of things.

got to be there thursday beforehand and i didn’t have a costume and stumbled upon a sriracha bottle “costume” which included a red sriracha shirt and a green beanie. apparently these were available at target, but i didn’t really know and didn’t feel like trekking out to check either. amazon to the rescue. still had money in my account and 2 day shipping to the rescue.

the stuff arrived saturday (halloween) morning so crisis averted. was supposed to go over early so we could review some plans, but nap won out and didn’t see until 2 hrs after.

went over and then we headed out for the show. got there and waiting in line. ended up getting a pretty good spot and hung out for a while before the show. interesting to see people dressed up. there were some obvious ones but also some very specific ones which i had no idea about.

it was a pretty interesting experience. now i’ve never actually seen rhps completely and never was into theater. however, i could tell some were totally into it. they did have some stuff to go along with it like shadow dancers and people dressed as characters dancing, especially time warp.

after the show ended we ubered it to hollywood or thereabouts. hung out with a friend of the people i was with and it was actually pretty calm and chill. then we ended up going to see some crazy.

friend’s wife’s cousin was at some party with people she went college with so we went over there. it ended up being at some chinese restaurant that they rented out. staffed by the actual workers which meant that their bar wasn’t used to the volume and they were not properly staffed so everything moved along at a snails pace.

add to that, the fact that i felt at least 10 years older than everyone else. our whole group probably was since i think her cousin is 25. we sat around and made conversation. mostly regarding the costumes.

ended up all deciding to call it a night around midnight.

guess we can’t hang like we used to.

phone just buzzed and it was a work email. c’mon people, it’s 9:30 on a friday night. stop working and enjoy the weekend.
