i am really falling behind in my work. there is a point in september/early october where i feel like ive got it all under control. then, mid october/november hits and i realize how behind i am. i need to finish 2 unit plans (which will take the sub through the concert in december), plus next weekend i need to write a few new unit plans. i just cant seem to find the motivation to do so some days…most days. it takes a lot of brain power and a lot of time. there is a sequence of events that needs to happen to accomplish each goal of the unit…it takes FOREVER to map everything out. and then, after ive written all of my plans, i get to teaching and realize something doesnt work or i need a third or fourth activity…its all a learning game.
im just falling a bit behind. theres not enough hours in the day and not enough time on the weekends. i probably should have gone home after lunch with my friend today, but i really wanted to get my nails done. im feeling very large and not very pretty lately, so i was really looking forward to getting my nails done. now i just need to buckle down and do some work.
yesterday, i got almost all of my grading done. im holding off on handing out any other worksheets for a bit…i havent had the time to grade anything. i still need to input all the grades (mindless work i can do in front of the TV), but at least these tests and homework packets are almost finished being graded. i dont think im going to hand out any more packets, only worksheets. just too many things to grade! i see way too many kiddos during the week to really keep up with what i think i should be doing. (if you dont know, im a prek-5th grade music teacher and see about 430 kids every week).
and of course on the weekends i want to relax, clean my house a bit and be domestic. right now, i have a cake baking and i made chili today. thank god for the crock pot!! gotta figure out some other meals to make in there that hubby will eat…anyway…
it feels like my work is never done. better get going on these lesson plans. hopefully i can finish the units during parent/teacher conferences on thursday. later!
