Summary: The death of Judd Foxman's father marks the first time that the entire Foxman clan has congregated in years. There is, however, one conspicuous absence: Judd's wife, Jen, whose affair with his radio- shock-jock boss has recently become painfully public. Simultaneously mourning the demise of his father and his marriage, Judd joins his dysfunctional family as they reluctantly sit shiva-and spend seven days and nights under the same roof. The week quickly spins out of control as longstanding grudges resurface, secrets are revealed and old passions are reawakened. Then Jen delivers the clincher: she's pregnant.
From the beginning Johnathan Tropper had me liking the main character Judd. The book flowed well and kept my attention but I found this novel lacking something. I was unable to really get into this book where as earlier this year his novel "One Last Thing Before I Go" I couldn't put this book down. From the first page to the last and and ending that left me with questions. This novel failed to stick with me. It failed to give me that feel Tropper's last novel did. I did find that Judd's dysfunctional family were very relatable to anyone whose family has been separated among life and is forced to spend time with each other rather they like it or not.
Overall the book was good I just found it didn't hold the attention that I wished it could have. Characters were written well and it paced well, but something about this book I found lackluster.
