I come by here regularly to read everyone else, but always seem to forget to update about myself and the kids. Not much going on, but I guess we are as good as we can be. The kids are well -and Adam and I are also.

Beau is doing fine with his 4th grade home/unschooling. We do a bit on time4learning every day and he has a few books for writing that he enjoys messing in. Other than that he just learns from life experience and day to day activities. He is involved in an acting class specifically for home schooled kids and he loves it. He went to their costume ball on Friday night and had a blast - said he danced the night away and was the life of the party lol.

Lyra is almost 10 months old - she is pretty awesome too. :-) She isn’t quite crawling yet, but she can certainly get to where she wants to be. She does a type of back scoot to move from one place to another and that combined with her rolls she can move anywhere pretty quickly. She is talking a lot for a 10 month old -Beau didn’t say his first word until 9 months and Lyra is already saying a large list. [mama, dada, cat, dog, duck, eat, nana (for nurse), cookie… and maybe some more, but those are the regular words].

I have started working again - been there a few weeks and LOVE it. I do weekends as a nurse at a jail. I knew I would love working with inmates, but I didn’t realize how much until I started. So many reasons why I enjoy it, but the main one is it takes me back to the basics of nursing- caring unconditionally about people and wanting to help them without passing judgement. I also get to do a lot of critical thinking since we work alone. When I am there I am the only medical staff. I can call my on-call charge nurse or my PA if there was an emergent situation I did not know how to handle, but I have only had to do that once (with a person who had TB.. I sent them to the er and they sent them back… I had to call and get orders to have them admitted because we don’t have any isolation cells).

We are going to Florida next week! We are meeting a friend from CA to spend time with her and of course go to disney and enjoy some warmer weather. I haven’t been to florida since I was 18 and I have never been to disney world (only disney land) so I am super excited! We may even do some house-searching while we are there. We have been trying to decide where our next move will be - we are leaning towards colorado or new mexico, but florida would be closer to family.

There is the update :-)
