So, it turns out that the taxes that come out of my paycheck here in Idaho are like, 30-35% of my income. WTF? Is that NORMAL!? I’m used to like, 15-20%…

Anyways, that, coupled with the almost $400/month for my kids to get insurance, apparently makes my paycheck about 1800… which is what I was making in Alaska. The difference being, I was only paying HALF of rent in Alaska… and here I’m paying the whole thing, and it’s only like $100 less per month than the place in Alaska was.

Also, I’m paying 100% of Milo’s preschool/daycare bill right now until Ross gets his income regulated. He’s still working part time and is barely making more than minimum wage. He said he plans to pay half of it, so that’ll help.. but ouch. I only get paid once a month, which is brutal…

After paying rent and daycare, I have about $400 left. If I take the kids off of my insurance, it’ll be more like $800, which is reasonable, I can deal with that… however, with Milo taking 2 or 3 daily medications, he can’t NOT have insurance. It’s just not an option.

I can’t apply for medicaid or state assistance until Ross moves out, or else his income will count towards our household and I don’t think we’ll qualify. Almost 100% sure that we will qualify for both food stamps AND medicaid once he moves out. HOW SAD IS THAT? I have a college degree and I work 40-50 hours a week, and I qualify for EVERY SORT OF BENEFIT.

I really thought I was finally getting ahead, but.. yeah, no.
