I’m behind on entries and don’t think I’ll have the opportunity to actually get all caught up. Boo.
This rotation has been INSANE. I think I’ve had a 70 hour work week. Plus, once I’m home, I’m working on patient discharges and preparing for the next day’s appointments. And I was in both yesterday and today. It’s been exhausting and sad. I’ve had 6 patients this week and 3 have died (not through any fault of my own, it was time for all of them). It’s apparently been an unusually sad week for the Internal Medicine service. On the bright side, I feel like I have a better group of doctors that I’m working with this block than on my previous Internal Medicine rotation and I’ve gotten some nice complements and not too many criticisms that make me feel like I complete idiot, so that’s nice. Still, one more week of exhaustion and many opportunities to feel dumb.
I really need to get on top of preparing for my appointments tomorrow but I’m having a hard time finding the ambition to do so. What I want most of all is another day off and a morning to actually sleep in past when it’s still dark out.
