Seems like our life just moves from one crisis to another. I don’t know how we’d survive without something to worry about!

Latest one came right at the end of our recent Cornwall excursion.
Vicki arrived back from her short Spanish holiday with friends and B/F on Sunday afternoon and was due to pick her dog up from us on Monday morning. We had a text message telling us they’d landed. A few minutes later we get another one from her. Going through Immigration, her boyfriend had been arrested for being AWOL from the Army ...........since 2004! He was taken to the local police station awaiting collection by the Military Police. Vicki went back to her friends house where her car was, but stayed the night to see what was going to happen. B/F was due in court the next morning for the formalities of being held for the MPs. In the meantime we sorted out that her good friends, who live not far from her, would look after Hiro, her dog, for her, as we had to go back home on Monday.
He was transferred to Salisbury Army Base on Monday afternoon when the escort picked him up..
Obviously, all this time Vicki was panicky as we did not know the whole story. If he actually was AWOL for so long , it would be classed as desertion and he could have ended up inside for up to 10 years!!
Vicki travelled back on her own on Monday afternoon and got her baby back. Tuesday morning was the Army Tribunal, where it was discovered that it was all an admin error. He had changed to a different section and later discharged from this section, but somehow the paperwork had been “mislaid”. So the AWOL charge was dropped. However, they did find that he had an unspent conviction from 13 years ago (!) where he hit someone, so it looks like he will get community service for this. He was allowed home and has to return in November for another tribunal and formal sentencing, but it doesn’t look too bad now.

I had a meeting with my new Line Manager today. The old one had been promoted and moved to a different project. I already knew Linda anyway as she was one of the Field Nurses in my team and has just been promoted. This was expected as she was the most experienced of us all. Anyway, during our discussions she intimated that it was as I thought....our team will be “slimmed down” due to the drop off of business, and the shrinking budget from our client, the pharmaceutical company. So I did let her know that I would be leaving as soon as we have sold the house. She totally understood, and it might enable them to keep the rest of the team together (one has already been re-deployed). We discussed how quiet it is in my area at the moment and she said not to worry, that others were the same! Good, I won’t feel so guilty about spending half my day writing articles now then!

Dawn is going back down to Cornwall this weekend with Lee, to have a look at some more houses and also to see Vicki, of course! Lee will also be looking at a couple of flats down there. he hasn’t made his mind up whether to stay up here or move back down there yet. So I am gonna have a long weekend all to myself! Gonna be strange! But maybe I can get out on the bike as it’s supposed to be nice here.

We put our house on the market yesterday and apparently there is someone interested in it already. May even have a viewing this weekend! Sounds like the Estate Agent (Realtor) was right. It won’t take long to sell up here!
The big problem is going to be leaving Paula. We have told her we are going to be moving and she is already upset and it is so hard. But we need to do it for us. I just wish , sometimes, that we weren’t such a close family.

Well, that’s all the fun for this issue.
Stay safe, peeps.
