Marsha P Johnson in Confessions

My ex is working with a group to develop a LGBT center in the city particularly focused on transgender people. A few months ago I agreed to make a $600 donation to the cause, which is a $50 payment each month for a year.

I’ll readily admit that the reason for my donation was much more about the excitement of having to pay her than about supporting the cause.

I made my first payment on the 24th, so it was unofficially agreed that I would pay each month on the 24th. But when the second month came around, I was out of town on the 24th. I suggested the idea of a late fee and she was completely in favor of that.

What followed was a lot of negotiation about payments, which is always part of the fun anyway. But we finally decided that the payment of $50 must be made on the 24th of each month, any early payment will be $75 and any late payment will be $100.

We also agreed that it is my responsibility to set up the payment time each month, and if she had to remind me about a payment, there is a $25 fee for that.

This month we have already discussed it, and I know I’m going to have to pay her on the 23rd because of scheduling reasons, so it will be $75. I’m kind of looking forward to future months to see how much I’ll have to pay.
