SO, I’m looking for houses in Pocatello. 3-4 bedrooms, at least one bathroom with a TUB, and PREFERABLY a fenced yard, which allows dogs.
In May and June, I found about 32942 places that fit this description. Now that I can make a deposit on something, I’ve found about 5. One person picked another applicant. One lady declined my application based on my credit, one guy turns out to live in the basement of the house and would just be renting us the upstairs/remainder of it… awkward… one guy won’t do business with me long distance but says he would be happy to meet up with me when I get into town and do something quickly once I’m there, and one lady has asked for a bunch of different kinds of references, including pet references, and is extremely anal about her grass/yard. She seems to think that Mochi will eat the siding on the house because she’s part lab and is under 2 years old. I told her that Mochi doesn’t do that, but she says her son had a lab who did, so she’s wary of younger dogs. (I also lied and said Mochi was over a year old. She won’t be 1 until the end of September.)
So uh. :-\ There’s a 3 bed 2 bath that I inquired about with a nice lady who says she has a group of girls who are looking at the place now, and she is going to give them first dibs since they’ve already seen it. She is keeping my number in case they decide not to get it. I wish she would recognize that I am a better applicant, but oh well…
The lady who is super anal about Mochi and her yard is named Shauna and the house she has for rent is a 4 bed/1 bath with a great fenced in back yard, and the house is BEAUTIFUL. It’s definitely my favorite of all the ones I’ve applied for or inquired about, and she is replacing some of the carpeting and the shower/tub surround currently. Jamie and Jesse checked it out for us and really liked it, although it was a tad quirky with a strange built in storage closet that has these step looking shelves, and a built in bar in the basement. Strange, but I can handle that. The upstairs is gorgeous, the bathroom has etched glass sliding doors on the tub and the mirror and windows are also etched glass. It’s beautiful. The kitchen is white, a good size, and very open. There’s a back yard with a covered patio and a door off the dining room that leads right out back.
I just want it. It would be perfect. It’s in a nice area of town, and it’s a cute little neighborhood, and I WANT IT. She’s being very picky, as she is a real estate agent who is renting out her own personal home… I wish I could somehow convince her that she should pick me. I’m slightly irritated because I’ve been pursuing it and saying I wanted it for weeks and she’s just beating around the bush and asking for more random stuff and delaying.. I think she’s wanting to hear back from my previous landlord, who I don’t expect to call her back, simply because she’s a horrible landlord, and if she DOES call back, I’m not sure she would have very good things to say, since we snuck in a few pets we weren’t supposed to have and Ross left the kitchen unfinished when he was “done” cleaning. She wasn’t very happy about that, which seems reasonable, but it was beyond my control :-\ I had the kids and their multitude of appointments at the time, and Ross was taking care of the house stuff.
Alright. Well. That’s all the news that is news. I blocked Ross’s mother on Facebook and it’s been such a beautiful sense of relief. I don’t have to worry about stumbling across anything she’s said to someone else, and I don’t have to worry about her seeing anything I’ve said and making snotty comments. She’s a dumb bitch.
Ahhhh, yeah. It feels good to call names. lol

Hope you find something soon. How are you finding these places? Craigslist? Classifieds? I had a hell of a time finding local places and really want to move next year.
