Up until recently I haven't been much of a cooker. Sure, I can follow a recipe, help out with holiday dinners and such, but cooking every day just wasn't something that happened. I either had to have a craving for something only I can make the way I like, or a special event rolling around.
For the last few months now I've been cooking almost every day, certainly 4 days a week on average. This mostly arose out of lack of funds, because buying food parts truly is cheaper than everything else. Cooking for myself has really refined my pallet, and now I just keep staples in the house so I don't have to buy them every time I go to the store. It's like I finally became an almost adult, which only took well into my 30's. I suppose this means I'm going to have to give up boozin' and smokin'... so that's not gonna happen.
