Heh heh, get it? Scratch? ::crickets:: Because skin gets itchy? I got nothing.
This week of Derm was better. I think in part, because our case load was smaller (one Derm case per day rather than 2 is much better) and for the last three days, Dr. T was in charge of us. She is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had and is so, so kind. I love her and if I ever needed a mommy at school, she would be it. She’s thorough, patient, enthusiastic, and comforting. That’s not to say the other two clinicians I worked with weren’t good teachers but I feel like their personalities didn’t mesh harmoniously with mine. So, I’ve actually had fun this week and am happier about skin. Not to the point where I would ever want to pursue it as a career/specialty, but I got to the point where I was enjoying my appointments more. I feel like I’ll have a better idea of what to do with derm cases when I’m in the real world working in general practice.
I’ve gotten better at preparing my cases, too, I think, and organizing them to present to a clinician. Hopefully my methods work for services other than dermatology. I start Ultrasound next week and, even though it isn’t a patient care rotation, I still have to be able to present cases, come up with differential diagnoses, diagnostic ideas, etc.
I’m almost 1/4 done with my rotations. That’s INSANE!
Ooh! Food will be here shortly.
I’m getting a hair cut tomorrow and going to a Paula Poundstone show! Whee!
