We returned home yesterday from a vacation to Maine. We were invited to spend time at a cabin my husband’s family rents by a lake in Central Maine. It was very nice there. We spent a lot of time swimming and fishing. The kids spent a lot of time in the water. There were some young teens and preteens in the cabin next door and they were together with our kids a lot of the time. We also went to the White Mountain region of New Hampshire. We took the Cog Railway up Mount Washington. It was cold up there!

My husband and I were going to try to climb up Mount Washington again. My in-laws were taking the kids to a nearby beach to go swimming. However, we didn’t end up climbing the mountain. There was a brook at the very beginning of our trail. When we went over this brook last year it was a few inches deep. This year there had been a lot of rain and it was two and a half feet deep in spots. We took it as a sign that conditions weren’t great on top of the mountain and decided not to climb up. We took the kids up the Cog Railway instead.

I will have lots more details coming up. For now we are still unpacking and getting used to being home again.
