This just makes me sad. Such an undignified end for such a storied lady.
An aircraft carrier pier side is a creepy place. It is built to handle almost six thousand sailors. An abandoned aircraft carrier at sea is haunted. There is no other way to describe it.
The bulkheads weep with moisture and pain. Thousands lived within this steel structure. People died or were injured. Marriages came apart at the seams. Men and women came of age between the throbbing walls of this city of steel. You never forget the smell.
