This is a little weird. I am still up at almost 2am. Okay not 515am, but close enough.

The ordeal of staring at the clock all day waiting for the right time to go pick up Mireya to go to the cookout at my parents house seemed to have knocked my internal clock off.

Beanie was cooperative for the most part, but ended up taking a nap in the pivot chair in the living room. I finally dropped her off at her house at around 2000, or 8PM for yoose wacky civilians.

I went through a weird couple of weeks where I had plenty of household chores to do but just didn’t care. I’ll chock that up to a latent reaction of Dulci crossing the rainbow bridge.

I think it took me almost two weeks to get all the cat stuff out of the apartment.

Then the floors need cleaning, the carpets need steam cleaning. Stuff started piling up.

So after several episodes of Game of Thrones tonight I started taking care of things.

Which I guess explains why I am still awake.

When in doubt, I whipped it out - the floormate and took care of the kitchen floor. Then did the deep cleaning in the downstairs bathroom.

Vacuumed the place from top to bottom. Stored the cat stuff. I can’t get to that point of admitting I need to get rid of it, because I have a niggling feeling there is another cat in my future.

I am reminded of St Augustine’s quote “Grant me chastity and continence, but not yet.”

I might want another kitty, or even a dog in the future. Just not yet.

Game of Thrones has finally become addictive. Combination of intrigue, knowing things characters don’t know. And nakedness. Seeing Daenerys after the fire with her little dragon babies is seered into my brain.

In between staring at the clock and half watching the news I was doing my due diligence and looking for work.

A company I had previously interviewed with suddenly had a listing. Right inside my skill set. Full time - I was kinda hoping for a part time gig, but at this point I will take what is out there and mold it to fit my needs.

So tomorrow is updating the resume and spooling up yet another cover letter. To be edited on Monday or Tuesday. Things I have learned in life include never write and send on the same day if it is important. The Navy taught me that. I did three staff tours and most of my job during those tours was writing. A boss once said “If you want it bad enough, you are going to get it bad…” He was right. If you rush it, it not going to come across the way you want it to.

All things in time, as the saying goes.

Meanwhile I suppose I will sign up for James Patterson’s writing course.

Ninety bucks and maybe it will crack the code of why I can’t seem to get the stories in my head into a format that other people can read.

And.

It is summer in Maine. Once the knuckleheads leave on Monday the beach is mine.

But then there is the concern of sharks. Yes, they have been sighted in southern Maine.

Kinda takes some of the enthusiasm away from jumping into the wetsuit, putting on the fins and taking the bodyboard out for a spin.
