Synoposis
A woman is found brutally murdered in a sordid Atlanta apartment.

Her blood-soaked body bears a chilling similarity to a woman found dead almost 40 years earlier.

Soon Special Agent Will Trent finds himself returning to the home he grew up in, and a past that could hold the clue to the killings…

My thoughts
By far - this is the best book I had read in a long time!
I was so excited!
MAY CONTAIN LOTS OF SPOILERS
We follow the story of a group of prostitutes and one of them is murdered.
Next thing we know, the story is now set in 1975 and we’re following the adventures of a young Amanda Wagner. After finding out a lot about Evelyn Mitchell (in Fallen), you get a fresh perspective on the characters and where it all began.
The story follows, almost in parallel, with current day events, and the events that happened in 1975.
Same crime - different era.
I loved how you were given the opportunity to see Amanda in a new light. After hating this woman in so many books, you finally understand why she is like she is.
Will and Sara’s relationship begins to really blossom, and between the rapes, murders and beatings, there’s this endearing little love story that reminds you that these characters are people.
Will is still a complete idiot - but we love him regardless.

With most of Karin’s earlier books, I had worked out ‘who dunnit’, how, where, when and why. With Criminal, the plot was sending me off on so many twists and turns that nothing was really revealed until practically the last page.
I’m sure my heart was racing whilst reading most of this book.
