Well, this immediate area seems to have had its 15 minutes of fame and is no longer on the news. Oldest son came down yesterday to borrow my tractor mower and took the 4-wheeler below the house to the creek to see If the river was still blocking the road. It is. He said it was just sitting there. No flowing water, not coming up, but not going down either. I am sure this is the longest the high water has stayed around after downpours that I can ever remember. Our dirt roads are a mess but passable with caution. If you drive a car you better drive very slow and very carefully or you'll tear up the underside of your vehicle. Thank goodness I have my SUV and good tires. Strange thing is that I haven't left the farm since I took Dad to his appointment on Thursday at the VA. I finally started on making a dust ruffle for the guest room bed. I had bought a set of red pillowcases a couple of weeks ago at Goodwill to use since the comforter on the bed is in patriotic colors. I cut both of the pillowcases down each side, unfolded them and took the hems of them and sewed them together end to end. Wouldn't you know it, but in order for it to go around 1 side and the foot of the bed I needed another 12 inches. So I worked on extending the piece of fabric and added a different coordinating piece where it should be the middle of the side. Now to get enough Velcro to attach to the bottom mattress and the fabric. A two sided, easy removable dust ruffle. I hope to get it done in a week or two. There's no hurry but now lots of double hemming time. Whew, I bought some El Paso Pepper salsa and my lower intestines have had a reaction. Maybe my colon, but whatever it is there is a price to pay obviously. That is all for now. Take care and God Bless
Flood out of the news but still high waters in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.
