In My Mind in General

Karen she’s the silver sun, you best walk her way and watch it shine,
watch her watch the morning come.

I must confess, Maine is making up for last winter in spades. The weather has done the summer “one day of rain and five days of sun” thing it is known for. Mixed blessing because the roads are now all crammed full of out of state cars.

Mixed blessings are still blessings.

I am still de-catting the apartment. Truth is I’ll be finished when I move out of here. Cats have this skill. They can hide stupid cat toys in the weirdest places.

7 Years ago I went up to Rockland to see a Dar Williams concert.

At the time I didn’t know Dar was a big Icon in the…whatever acronyn we are using these days for people who aren’t straight.

I was in line to get my tickets, at the time Maine was in the midst of a struggle to legalize gay marriage.

A beautiful little girl asked if I would sign a petition. Being the sucker I am I did. And gave then my email address so I could be kept informed how the struggle was progressing.

The organization that the pretty little shitbird belonged to sold my email address to every far left wing organization and on a daily basis I clean out my email inbox.

I am a libertarian.

I don’t care where you put your dick. I don’t care where you put your mouth. I don’t care who you love, profess to love. I don’t care who you sleep with. I don’t care who you worship.

The only thing I ask is you leave me alone and don’t expect me to pay for your life choices.

That said, how yoooou doin?

Back to back decisions by the Supreme court redefining words and basically cutting the legislative (co-equal) branch out of the government have opened a huge door for all manner things we don’t want to talk about.

Anyone who has ever taken a law class knows that the American system is based on the concept of “Common Law” that came over with the brits. It means that all law is based on precedent. The communist branch of the SCOTUS have just dug a tunnel under the constitution.

While I agree with the second decision at heart, no one has the right to tell someone who they can love or who they can marry - doing it via a supreme court fiat is doomed. It can be undone by the legislature. And waiting for that to happen is crippling to the discussions that have to occur.

But there are still beaches and pretty girls. So all is not lost.
