I've been trying to be semi-productive today. I guess I've done OK. I got through Tuesday's exam's material once. I'd like to get through at least half of Monday's but I don't know if that will happen.
Aaron and I watched the The Day of the Doctor. I really enjoyed it. Doctor Who makes me happy in a way that nothing else does. It has the right combination of drama, imagination, humor, sorrow, good writing, etc. I kind of fell in love with John Hurt as The Doctor. He did so much with the small amount of development allowed in the episode. I would like to see more adventures with him!
Wednesday night, after we got back from seeing Ann and other family members, my dad was talking to my mum about slightly unpleasant family secrets of sorts. She had imbibed a couple beers, so was a bit tipsy and eventually said to him "I have a secret too! Promise you won't get mad! We have 2 cats!"
We hadn't told him about the cats because he has been allergic to some cats in the past and we kind of didn't know what to do. They spend most of their time in the 4 season porch and have gotten to wander freely when he wasn't home, kind of as a test to see if he showed any signs of an allergic reaction. He never did but then it got to the point of it being too awkward to say anything and...yeah.
I was kind of afraid of how he'd react but he just laughed. When I showed him Mogget (Lirael didn't want to come out. She's a hider), he rubbed his face all over the cat, laughed, and said "I guess I'm not a very observant chap." It was pretty adorable :) Plus, since petting Mogget and rubbing his face all over him, he hasn't showed any signs of being allergic, which is awesome. When I had rats, he was incredibly allergic to them (but insisted that I keep them and he let them run all over him, thus making his reactions worse) so I was afraid we would have a similar situation. So far, so good!
We gave Nesmith his first enalapril today and it went well! We got pill pockets, but they're too big for him to take whole. Also, he likes to dissect his food, take tiny nibbles, and chew thoroughly. Weirdo little chihuahua. Mum gave him tiny pieces of the pill pocket and wrapped the pill in another piece. While nibbling on the pill piece, the pill fell out onto the floor so mum and I had an "oh shit" moment. But then the little bugger ate the pill off the floor and didn't seem to notice that it wasn't food, so huzzah! Hopefully it will continue to go that well :)
I'm off to eat some dinner. First real meal I've had today. I blame studying and Doctor Who :P I've had cheezits, milk tea, Reeses, candied cranberries (Aaron made them and they are delicious! I like to pretend they're still healthy despite being coated with sugar :P), and some blueberry toaster waffles. Definitely a well-balanced diet!
