THANKS Everyone who donated to the GoFundMe account, or anyone who sent money, you guys are amazing.

We approached Ross’s dad about extending out current loan with him (which is down to $12,000 from $20,000) and he responded by writing us a check for $4,000. $5,000 was our minimum goal to make this happen, so now we don’t have to worry about GETTING there, but we still have lots of other bills to finish paying before we leave, and other expenses once we get there, etc.

Quite a bit has fallen into place, though. A childhood friend of mine has offered us her basement to stay in for the month of July. It has a living room, bathroom, little kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave and sink, and a washer and drier in the bathroom. There’s also a little bedroom area that has half walls all the way around. The plan is to put our king size mattress in the living room area and let the kids sleep on the pull out bed in the bedroom area. We’ll put a little TV in that side for them, too, just for movie nights and such. We aren’t really going to bring anything else with us, though.. just clothes, obviously, and the kids blankets. We’ll pack the van up well in advance with some books and toys for the trip, so they’ll have that stuff ready, and everything else we have packed up will be in Ross’s storage unit.

I have a large collection of people coming over on Sunday to help me pack up and clean the house. There’s basically 5 rooms in the house, and I’ll have Shelby, Heather, Don, Kasin, and Me.. so we should be able to divide and conquer to get things packed for the most part. Kasin will need quite a bit of help, but he doesn’t have a lot to pack so it shouldn’t be too awful, mostly cleaning will be the lame part. Ross is taking Milo out for the day to go do Daddy Things for Daddy Day. They’re going to go to the park unless it’s super hot, and then they’re going to the Children’s Museum and then to McDonald’s for dinner, and then to Barnes & Noble and PetCo to window shop and play. Ross doesn’t sound stoked about it, but he’s going, so there. :-P

He’s also getting a card and a cookbook thingy from a series that he really likes, and steaks for dinner. Hopefully he’ll be happy with all of that. For Mother’s Day, I got breakfast, to sleep in, and a nice dinner. So I hope he’s happy with his Father’s Day. At least he’s getting a card, right? Iiiiiiiii would have liked a card…

Anywho, things are working out. Our current “money raised” by donations is at about $5,000 and it will be split up between car repairs for the van (it goes in on Wed), deposit and first month’s rent for a new place in Pocatello, and the UHaul expenses. (Rent + Deposit I anticipate being about $1,800, and the UHaul will be around $2,000.)

BECAUSE Ross’s dad wrote the check TO HIM, and because some other generous donors are donating money directly into Ross’s Wells Fargo account (I have a local bank so they can’t deposit to me unless they live here in town), Ross is going to add me to his account so I can get a debit card to use for all of this stuff.

I’m a little nervous that Ross is going to just spend up this money in stupid ways. He lost his tarantula and really wants a new one, although I’ve been lobbying for that to wait until we settle in our new location (MAKES SENSE RIGHT???!) and he also has a credit card with a little over $500 that he needs to pay off, and some other random debts. He needs to get all of that taken care of, but NOT with this money from his dad. He’s notoriously bad at money management, though, and I’m really nervous about the situation. SIGH.

Otherwise, things are all squared away, routes are mapped out, things are planned for and packed.. we have a few purchases to make, such as a tent for the trip down, and some battery charger packs for the kids’ devices while we travel, and probably a portable DVD player, as well. We’re going to be living off of peanut butter and jelly, but THEN! We will arrive, broke, tired, and never wanting to drive again, in Pocatello, with a new job and new hope.

Ahhh, yeah. <3
