Dulcinea passed away today.
She had stopped eating in her normally robust way last month. Then started hiding, which any cat owner who has had a cat pass away knows is a sign.
She wasn’t in pain that I could tell. She didn’t cry. She went about her days, albeit slower. Slept on a blanket in Mireya’s room, and on nice days sat on the back of the couch watching the birds.
When I got up at 4am to go to the bathroom, she was in the hall. Sitting up.
When I got up for good at 7am she was curled in a ball on that same comfy blanket she had been spending so much time on.
Today I had a dental appointment. It was cool, rainy typical Maine June day.
It wasn’t until much later that I realized I hadn’t seen her all day.
I found her curled up on that blanket. It wasn’t until I touched her that I realized she wasn’t sleeping.
I’ll take her up to the folks place tomorrow and put her beside Gizzie.
I’m kinda sad.
Rest in peace, beautiful.
